Along the course of the St-Laurent river, Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf offers us Anticipation perpétuelle, an out of the ordinary literary trail composed of ten signs pegged along the bike path. Depending on which way we are coming from, the nature of the messages shifts. On one side we can re-discover aspirational and wishful quotes about the twenty-first century from the after-war years. On the other side, in echo, the signs display the consequences of the alarming and evergoing growth of the human race.

« The two reading place in opposition two sides of our era : the one that was dreamed about and idealized in the past, that was evoking a better life, already fast behind and outdated by nowadays technology ; and the one decried, telling an unknown and scary future, more a nightmare than a dream, a much less innocent vision than after the war, a brutal awakening to bad things to come.«

– Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf

Anticipation perpétuelle will be presented along the St-Laurent river from June 27 to August 18 2019
