Belgrade Artist in Residence (BAIR) is a program that is part of Center424, a nonprofit artist-run organization that supports artists, curators, and martial artists via one week to three month residencies taking place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The program aims to foster cultural exchange between artists from different disciplines by encouraging dialogue and collaboration.

BAIR was founded in 2012, and has since hosted various artists from all over the world. Moreover, the program established artist residencies and exchange programs in Konstepidemin, Gothenburg, Sweden, and also with Homesession in Barcelona, Spain.

BAIR is a member of ResArtis and TransArtists, both of which are networks that promote worldwide residencies.

Our residency program seeks a remote assistant and an on-site assistant for a period of two months or longer. The assistants will be experimental, creative, collaborative, and have a passion for contemporary art. The ideal candidates will also be able to work with a diverse community and have excellent communication skills. English language skills are required for both positions. Desired interns can be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in arts management, art history, studio art, or the equivalent.

Responsibilities for the remote assistant include but are not limited to:
Research and assist in applying to funding opportunities.
Manage residency’s social media and update the website as required.
Develop marketing strategies.
Correspond with colleagues in a collegial and professional manner.
Collaborate with staff on projects.

Responsibilities for the on-site assistant include but are not limited to:
Assist in the development and management of the artist residency program.
Research possible collaborations or program development.
Serve as the liaison for resident artists, curators, and local artists.
Plan and organize events.
Research and assist in applying to funding opportunities.
Collaborate with staff on projects.
Facilitate the organization of workshops, studio, gallery and museum visits.

These are unpaid positions. BAIR can work with participants to receive academic credit for their work. Accommodation costs can be discussed with potential interns for the on-site assistant. Only qualified candidates will be contacted by November 10, 2018.
