With a research desk installed on her tricycle, Genevieve Gasse rides the bike path between Regart and the Maison Natale de Louis-Fréchette. During her travels, she creates spontaneous artistic manoeuvers which question what is in place in order to further her research on art. Vélo-Bureau: Le chemin pour se rendre is a project of relational art which grows based on the evolution of the research by the artist and her meetings with the public. Gasse is asking “What is art?” and questioning the artistic process and the different steps as well as the multiple roles the artist takes on in their practice.

In the gallery window and the entrance of Regart, Gasse diverts the initial function of the space by installing the Centre de recherche en art infiltrant (CRAI). Searchers occupy the temporary office space with the mission of doing research and artistic maneuvers questioning established systems like the initial function of an object, space as well as norms and perceptions. The CRAI also has for mandate to manage the activities of the desk-cycle.

During a writer residency over the summer, author and art critic Cynthia Fecteau will join Gasse on her bike path journey and recount the events. An inventory of texts and archives developed during this time will serve as a premise for a corpus about the imaginary world of ambulatory research.

Vélo-Bureau : Le chemin pour se rendre will be presented on the bike path, in the Member’s window and the entrance of Regart’s gallery from June 27 to August 2019
