The Institut für Alles Mögliche is an artistic project that, by using experimental means, sets about questioning, scrutinising and probing the institutionalisation and presentation of contemporary art. To this end project spaces are opened, events developed and various artistic practices tried out. These, mostly playful experiments deal with interrogations of the ‘art space’, the operatings of the ‘project space’ and ‘exhibiting’ often in an ironic manner. The central concept is to develop spaces of possibility in which exchange and experiences can take place and space for artistic activity can come in to being. The project can be understood as an organism, as an artistic attempt to find niches and to implant a non-commercial program into the commercial structure of the municipal sphere. It is intended to formulate a notion, a proposal, an approach on how artistic collaborations, collective learning and cohabitation can be constructed. The project tries to create an alternative, which opposes the economic utilisation of art, the artistic pressure to produce and increasing standardisation. Projects that are realized within the Institut are non–commercial and not market-orientated. We place great value on artistic practices and forms of expression that take place beyond art fairs and galleries. During our […]

“Axel Obiger” opened in September 2009 at Brunnenstraße 29 in Berlin Mitte as space for contemporary art. In addition to the 10 double- shows and 2 curated group shows a year, Axel Obiger presents a supporting program of performances, readings, discussions and artist talks. One key aspect is the collaboration with guest artists, which are staged in a open form of dialog with one artist from the gallery. In this manner the several artistic context and ways to work are elucidated in order to intensify the exchange between different positions. Axel Obiger is tracing scientific discourses in our group shows and open-ended experiments – issues f.e.: Burn Out, sociological icons in body and language, consumption, authorship and identity. Axel Obiger exclusively shows contemporary work.

ArtConnect is a global community that celebrates and supports arts & culture Our Story 10 years ago, ArtConnect began as a local Berlin art blog, focused on helping new artists navigate the art world and meet new people in Berlin. Today, ArtConnect is one of the world’s largest online communities of art and art professionals. A place to connect with other artists, collectors, curators and galleries. Our mission is to democratize the art world. We envision a space where artists are able to build their own online fan base, as a way to shift the power balance from the “ gatekeepers” to the creators. By putting the power in the hands of the artists, we will remove the high barrier of entry, to allow the art world to become a more accessible, inclusive and engaging place for newcomers and veterans alike.Be part of a community that is purpose-built to empower artists. If we can work together, we can create a new community of art culture that will help everyone understand the essential contribution that the arts make to our lives. Join the revolution

SCOTTY was founded in 2006. Today, the artist-run project space is located in Kreuzberg, Oranienstrasse and organized by 13 artists. In the house with the smallest floor space in Kreuzberg Scotty provides an open platform for its member artists and curators as well as for guests, offering the greatest possible freedom while exploiting group potential to a maximum. Intermedia and interdisciplinary solo and group exhibitions are shown at regular intervals, and performances and film evenings are organized. The focus is on contemporary social and cultural-political issues. SCOTTY operates independent of the market – it is selfautonomy determined and non-hierarchical. Above and beyond the work in this space in Berlin-Kreuzberg , the members of SCOTTY initiate and organize supra-regional and international cooperation with other similar project spaces, strengthening the position of artists working autonomously through nationwide visibility and networking. Despite the members‘ pronounced individuality, they share a desire to create new opportunities for artistic actions and ideas. The vitality of SCOTTY arises from the consistent, self-determined implementation of democratic agreement among members during the planning and realization of projects.

TOOLBOX: A Finnish German Art Space TOOLBOX is an independent cooperative project of artists, organizing exhibitions to advance international exchange in respect to contemporary art and artistic positions. Openings are every last Friday of the month; the exhibitions present contemporary art in its manifold forms. The artist members of TOOLBOX conceive art as a tool for reflecting on the present age and art as having an impact on or even creating the social world. TOOLBOX has its focus on showing Finnish contemporary art in Berlin and presenting juxtapositions of Finnish next to German artistic views on relevant topics like, for example, ideologies, limits of perception, the significance of emotions, philosophical or political theory or human patterns of making world intelligible. TOOLBOX is a member of Kolonie Wedding, an association of about 30 art project spaces in Soldiner Kiez in Berlin-Wedding. On every last Friday of the month project spaces jointly open their doors for visitors. HilbertRaum is an independent, non-commercial, artist-run project space. It opened in January 2015 in the middle of Reuterkiez in Berlin-Neukölln. Behind HilbertRaum is a group of 17 Berlin-based artists, who take turns curating and organizing two-week exhibitions throughout the entire year. Projects incorporate a broad range of painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation and performance. HilbertRaum is named after the infinitely dimensioned Hilbert space, a concept developed by the mathematician David Hilbert. To us, it represents an open, undetermined and evolving structure of self-organization with the expectation of the unexpected. Centrum is a contemporary art space in the Flughafenkiez district of Neukölln, Berlin. Formerly used as a retail store and brothel, Centrum’s exhibition space is not a white cube, but owes its specific character to its tiled floor composed of red ceramic and grey stone tiles, and from the large shop window looking out into the street. Centrum offers a platform for the discourses in and around contemporary art as well as the opportunity to meet artists through artist talks, lectures, and film screenings. We work with international and locally based artists, offering space and support for experimentation and for the development of new work. Centrum was founded in 2009 by Kate Squires and David Moynihan and since September 2014 is currently run by Mareike Spendel; since March 2015 supported by Natalie Weiland. In September 2016 the team was joined by Aurica Kastner.
